Ghazipur in India is considered to be the original habitat of the Jasmine flower consisting of approximately 42 species with their varying olfactory characteristics. In Europe, Grasse in France is also world-famous for its Jasmine. It was first cultivated there as a gift from the Middle East to the French in 1548.
Whilst still attached to the plant this flower smells amazing, you will seldom find someone walking through a garden with a flowering jasmine plant who complains about the smell. After the flower is picked and distilled to an oil or extracted through various methods begins the challenge of getting it right. Jasmine oils and fragrances can go wrong in so many ways, and honestly speaking most of the time jasmine fragrances just get it wrong. That is due to the overpowering ability of this fragile scent. It’s fragile nature has the ability to really ruin both itself and the rest of the composition. Like fine China, the shattered pieces can be a real nightmare to gather.
It is based on this difficulty that amazing jasmine fragrances are difficult to come by. When the fragrance is done right and the Jasmine note is captured perfectly the fragrance straightaway becomes a hit – a collectible. This was the case with both our Yasameen attar and Jasmine Parfum. Both these scents worked with jasmine in sandalwood and the two are really masterpieces.
So here is the big challenge – Oudh and jasmine are one of the most difficult ingredient combinations to work with, but JUMAANA is a seamless elegant marriage of Jasmine and Oudh supported by musk.
The natural Jasmine flower has a three phase journey; the initial fresh white floral note, followed by a slight powdery note which settles into a slightly indolic note. This three levelled progression is what most compositions get wrong as they get stuck in one of the phases, the fragrance either becomes too powdery which is the usual culprit or indolic.
JUMAANA is the jasmine flower dripped in vintage Oudh and musk. Not one, but three Oudhs, orchestrated to carry the jasmine in her completely fragile nature and glory, not allowing her to shatter or overpower, rather celebrating her essence in the perfect three phases. The musk and Oudh provide the perfect platform and backdrop , a comfortable cushioning for the wonderous fresh opening accented by a touch of fur, then the jasmine develops into a wonderful full bodied sensual middle, not the powdery reminiscent of a jasmine-scented Kleenex but rather a true sensual note that develops into a lovely indolic yet green and moist end on a bed of woods and incense.
